“We discovered that a particular bottle, tasted at just the right moment, could alter the course of a career. We like to compare it to falling in love — the first time is truly unforgettable.” – Nick Wise

Following the success of their books Celebrity Vineyards (2013) and California Celebrity Vineyards (2016), authors Nick Wise and Linda Sunshine have turned their attention to Oregon’s Willamette Valley to reveal the fascinating tale of how this region went from farming nuts and Christmas trees to cultivating the elusive Pinot Noir grape, elevating the region’s profile and establishing itself as a billion-dollar wine empire in less than 50 years. Today Oregon is recognized as one of the world’s premier producers of Pinot Noir wines, and Chardonnay is reported to be next. Some think of Willamette Valley as the new Napa, others think of it as America’s Burgundy. During their travels, the authors visited more than 20 outstanding wineries, interviewing the winemakers and experiencing phenomenal private barrel and bottle tastings, which they documented in detail. In addition to the stories behind some of the valley’s most influential and important winemakers, the book contains extensive tasting notes, hotel and restaurant recommendations for a locals-approved tour of the valley, along with a map of all the featured wineries. This book is written with the wine enthusiast in mind, but will be captivating for sommeliers and wine newbies, alike, and anyone interested in discovering the many wineries, winemakers, histories and stories of the Willamette Valley.
